Obie is a 14 hand Arabian gelding who was saved from a feedlot auction in NJ. He was about to go back to the kill buyers at New Holland where he had just come from. His description stated: "Well broke WTC. Trail Safe. Games Pony."
Unfortunately, the reality is that Obie came to OFER sick with a cough, along with a deformed hoof and head tilt due to an undiagnosed neurological issue. We have run extensive tests (over $1,600) and we believe Obie has Temporohyoid Osteoarthropathy (THO) which prevents him from being safe to ride. We also believe he was mishandled in the past. But he is coming along so well. He is healthy and building trust daily. He is super sweet with a great personality. We adore our boy! Obie would be best suited as a loving companion to a family and is wonderful with other horses. He just wants to be loved.
OBIE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AS A COMPANION ONLY TO AN APPROVED FOREVER HOME.
Obie's "AFTER" photos... just four weeks after arriving at OFER. Pictured on left with one of Our Farm's TLC Handlers!
Obie's "BEFORE" photos, he was HIP #7, was also one of the last horses left over from the 3/25/15 slaughter bound/feedlot auction.
